SKW Schwarz is adding Jan-Dierk Schaal to its intellectual property partner team in Hamburg. The lawyer already worked at SKW Schwarz until the end of 2013. After working at KPMG Law and PwC Legal, he will return to his former place of work on January 1, 2024 and will further expand the IP/IT practice at the office together with partner Jens Borchardt.
Jan-Dierk Schaal advises clients on all legal issues relating to their intellectual property rights, marketing activities, e-commerce, IT contracts, data protection and compliance. He is the author of numerous specialist articles on IP and IT topics and was a lecturer for IT law in the master's program in business informatics at Nordakademie Hochschule der Wirtschaft until 2017. In early 2014, Jan-Dierk Schaal moved from SKW Schwarz to KPMG Law, where he headed the Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice group. He joined PwC Legal Germany in 2019.
"Advising at the interface of IP and IT has been a particular strength of SKW Schwarz for many years. We are therefore all the more pleased that Jan-Dierk Schaal is not only joining us as a highly recognized lawyer with precisely this interface expertise, but also as a personally valued colleague," says Oliver Stöckel, Head of Intellectual Property at SKW Schwarz.
"In recent years, SKW Schwarz has made a name for itself more than almost any other medium-sized law firm with modern, forward-looking legal advice. I am very much looking forward to working in a team with old and new colleagues to advise on exciting legal issues relating to intellectual property in the digital age," adds Jan-Dierk Schaal on his move.
SKW Schwarz works in Hamburg with a team of 14 lawyers, including 9 partners. The nationwide IP and IT & Digital Business departments have a total of 40 lawyers. In both areas, SKW Schwarz is ranked among the leading law firms in recognized industry publications. In 2023, JUVE Verlag named SKW Schwarz "Law Firm of the Year for Trademark and Competition Law".
